Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune denounced the bombing that killed 5 citizens in the Tebessa region, near the border with Tunisia, and described it in a tweet on Twitter as "cowardly action."
Tebboune said in his tweet that what happened in this area was "an act of cowardice and barbarism, which claimed the lives of five of our citizens from the Thlejan area in the state of Tebessa, after the explosion of a traditional mine planted by treachery." He added, "We pray to God Almighty to have mercy on them and to dwell in his spaciousness, and to inspire their families with patience and solace," calling for a "speedy recovery" for the wounded who are receiving treatment in hospitals.

For its part, the Algerian Ministry of Defense confirmed that 5 people were killed and 3 others were injured "with varying degrees of severity due to the explosion of a homemade bomb, when the utility vehicle in which the victims were on board passed through the Kheniq Al-Roum valley in the municipality of Al Thulijan, Tebessa province." The ministry called on "citizens to exercise caution and avoid moving in suspicious routes."
