Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan said, Sunday, May 16, 2021, that the international community must act immediately to confront the "provocative" Israeli measures in Jerusalem, and its call to immediately stop the military operations, referring to the Kingdom's rejection of Israel's attempts to displace Palestinian citizens from their homes in East Jerusalem.
Faisal bin Farhan explained in his speech during the emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, via video technology, that the Kingdom rejected the Israeli measures in East Jerusalem, which witnessed violations in the Al-Aqsa Mosque and attempts to displace Palestinians from their homes, calling on "the international community to take urgent action to stop the military operations immediately."
For his part, Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maki said: "What Israel has done and is doing in Jerusalem and Palestinian cities is an aggression against Arabs and Muslims, and we are exposed to a new, barbaric aggression, and the attacks extended to reach the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque."
Al-Maliki added, "The Israeli violations caused a Palestinian popular uprising, which confirmed that Jerusalem is a red line and the occupation is fleeting, and the Palestinian issue must remain the central issue," accusing Israel of building an apartheid system between the Palestinians.
